About

  • Galeria Belard is a Contemporary Art gallery in Lisbon that refuses to play it safe. We care about art that’s made from the inside out, painting, drawing, sculpture, photography created by artists who actually know what they’re doing. Craft matters here. Not as nostalgia. Not as virtuosity for its own sake. But because skill is thinking. Because material intelligence is where ideas stop being vague and start becoming real.

After everything that’s happened in Art History, after abstraction, after irony, after theory ate itself, figuration hasn’t disappeared. It’s come back tougher, stranger, and more necessary. The question isn’t whether figuration still matters, but how it mutates, collides with abstraction, absorbs history, and speaks in the present. That tension, between figure and form, gesture and structure, intuition and discipline, is where we live.

We’re not interested in the polite white-cube routine. Exhibitions unfold. Projects expand. Artists work publicly. Things shift. Process stays visible. The gallery is a site of thinking and exchange, where experience, learning, and practice meet. Small space. Big appetite. High standards. Galeria Belard is built on rigorous curatorial conviction and fueled by people who still believe Contemporary Art can hit you in the gut, mess with your head, and actually matter.
